Winter Weekends at Onaway
2024 Winter Camp Registration is OPEN!
Beat the winter blues with a trip to Onaway! All winter weekends share common activities that can only be enjoyed during Wisconsin winters including ice fishing, ice bowling, broomball, skating, snowshoeing, sledding, cross-country skiing, and fort building. Onaway Island provides comfortable accommodations in the year-round facilities of Headquarters and the Mess Hall. Don’t miss the chance to see Onaway in all its wintertime splendor. Winter weekends are a great chance for parents to come see the island!
Weather/Ice Conditions:
The dates of winter weekends are tentative and contingent on weather conditions and ice safety, and the safety of Onaway users is our top priority. Brigade staff will evaluate conditions before each scheduled weekend event, and a decision will be made/communicated no later than 48 hours before the start time. At a minimum, the current communication protocol would include a post on our Brigade home page, social media, and email/text to event leaders, but you can also call (920-725-8992) if desired. While ice thickness will typically be the biggest variable, there can be other considerations with the physical plant or weather issues, so be sure to check before making final plans.
February 2nd - 4th (Friday - Sunday): Family Weekend *CANCELED*
Arrive at Onaway landing after 7pm Friday, depart Onaway by 11am Sunday | COST: $45/Person, $35/under 11

Three-day winter Onaway experience geared toward family participation. Bring a parent or your whole family and get away from town for a few days in the middle of the long Wisconsin winter! All ages can participate in a nice balance of planned activities, events, and free time. Each family will have sleeping arrangements in their own bunkroom.
February 9th - 11th (Friday - Sunday): Parent/Son Weekend *CANCELED*
Carpool from Brigade @ 6PM Friday & return @ 12PM Sunday | COST: $45/Person
Three-day winter Onaway camp designed specifically for boys and a parent or guardian. Dads, uncles, granddads, and any other mentor (including Mom!) are welcome to come along. Get away from town for the weekend and spend it with the young man in your life at camp. There’s a ton of fun to be had on the ice and on the island; games, activities, and lots of great food that you help make! Each family will have sleeping arrangements in their own bunkroom.
February 16th - 18th (Friday - Sunday): Parent/Daughter Weekend *CANCELED*

Three-day winter weekend designed specifically for girls and a parent or guardian. Moms, aunts, grandmas, and any other mentor (including dads!) are welcome to come along. Get away from town for the weekend and spend it at camp. There’s a ton of fun to be had on the ice and on the island: games, activities, and lots of great food that you help make. Each family will have sleeping arrangements in their own bunkroom.
February 23 - 25th (Friday - Sunday): 10th Grade & Co-Leader Weekend
Bus leaves Brigade @ 6PM Friday & returns @ 12PM Sunday | COST: $25/person
Participants for this weekend are required to ride the bus.
In addition to all the regular winter activities, we stage the Wintertime Cross-Country Race, have a bonfire on the ice, and…a number of other activities that we won’t tell you about until you get there. There’ll even be an opportunity for those who dare to experience the dreaded Chain o’ Lakes Birkebeiner!
