Leadership Staff
John Benberg
Executive Director
John has both a double major undergrad and an advanced degree. His career before Brigade spans 10 years in higher education at the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign in the Campus Risk Manager role, then approximately 20 years as Executive Director of three different Boys & Girls Club organizations. As Executive Director at Brigade, he is responsible for all operations.
A little more about John…
John is a passionate ‘girl dad’ of two teenage daughters, Cassie and Delaney; they live about 30 minutes NW of Green Bay on 5 acres with many outdoor amenities. The family also includes dogs Grizzly (the big one) and Kodiak (the little one), who watch over everything and ‘approve’ all visitors. When time permits, the human residents enjoy card games, Netflix binges, listening to old-school music, tending the property, and watching Razorback games.
Nick Malcore
Program Director
Nick leads the boys’ Building Leaders program on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sundays. In the summer, he manages Boys’ Camp 3 and Girls’ Camp 3. Nick is a Brigade alumnus and previously worked as a chore boy at Camp Onaway, volunteered at Boys’ 3, LTC, and Anchor Camp, and was employed as a lifeguard at camp for two years before joining the program staff in 2017.
A little more about Nick…
He lives with his girlfriend, Taylor, and golden retriever, Norman. Nick has loved working at Brigade since graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2017. Nick likes to play ice hockey, Dungeons and Dragons, and any game in his free time. He also likes distance running and ran the Fox Cities Marathon in 2022 and any Turkey Trot he can find. In the winter, his favorite place is skating on the ice; in the summer, he’s swimming at Camp Onaway.
